Early materials
Materials are surrounding us. Some are memories from the past, others are in our daily life. Whether we are shaping them or they have a passive presence, we stay in contact with them. In this project I wanted to explore the memories associated with materials from the past. I chose Trolldeig (salt dough) and combined it with metal, my chosen material of today, connecting the past and present form languages.

When rolling the dough in my hands I revisited the sensation of making as a child. When working with the welder I recognize the same fascination for the interactive process of being in a dialog with the material in my hands.
I extracted the best qualities of each material to create a conversation between past and present. The trolldeig is soft and friendly while the metal is tense and comes with a will of its own, but they are standing in a balance of calm carefulness and wild growth.
